What a great response to our British Bloomers in Birmingham.

Last week the West Mids members of Flowers from the Farm adorned the BBC Gardeners world live at the NEC with our glorious display of British grown flowers.
Our chief in charge was Carole from Tuckshop Flowers in Birmingham and she did a sterling job of chiveing us all along so everything was ready for the 4 day stint. It was really good to work with other local growers, most of whom I’d not even met before and we all pulled together to make our stand look amazing. We are all very proud how it turned out, we even bagged a ‘highly commended’ certificate from the RHS!
Flowers from the Farm is the network of growers working to promote British flowers and get local blooms back into every vase in the country and we certainly played our part in the Midlands.
Our aim was to show people the vast array of flowers that can be grown here in the UK & share our knowledge of flower growing & floral skills.
We had so much positive response from people, some were interested in growing, lots of people wanted to know where they could buy the flowers from and nearly everyone (so it seemed) wanted a go at making a buttonhole!
All in all it was a great success, the highlight for me was after I’d showed a lady how to make a hand tied posy she said “it was worth coming to the show just to do this, it’s made my day.”
We definitely did OK as we’ve already been asked to go back next year, not sure how we’re going to improve on this years but we like a challenge, don’t we?
