E&W wanted to add a richness and warmth to their winter wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse last February. So a vibrant jewel colour palette was chosen for the florals. The venue has very cosy vibes with lots of rustic features, beams, open fires and twinkley lights which makes it the perfect setting for a winter wedding. They actually got a bonus with the weather and it turned out to be a beautiful February day as you will see from the gorgeous light that Hannah has captured in these photos.
The jewel tones of the flowers really added a romantic and moody vibe to their wedding day. To create the look they were after I gathered the following flowers in a natural relaxed style and suggested using the following seasonal flowers which come in all those wonderful colours.
In late winter I do have to buy in my flowers however fortunately tulips are grown in abundance in Lincolnshire. I choose a regal mix of rich reds and purples. I also used some Anemones, these are such a charming flower, their common name is windflower as they look similar to a poppy and will give a more wild flower vibe to your wedding flowers. On the brighter colour palette they come in a mix of blue/purple, bright pink, lilac and red. I also choose Ranunculus with all their wonderful ruffles of petals and their garden rose like appearance, a very sustainable choice for winter flowers. I gathered all these together along with some Eucalyptus foliage, Eryngiums for a touch of true blue and some wispy stems of dried Limonium.
Working within their budget I suggested we keep the table decor simply beautiful with bud vases of flowers as a botanical runner and along with gorgeous styling from Tara Knott the tables looked stunning.
It’s always a good idea to repurpose your flowers to get the most out of them so we can provide vases to pop your bouquets in after all the photos have been taken, this will help them last a little longer. You can place them on the cake table, bar area or use as table centre pieces. Also your wedding ceremony flowers can be moved to your top table after the ceremony.
