Hey Barbie Inspired Sailcloth Styled Shoot at Sami Tipi Cuttle Brook Swarkestone.

This really was such fun! When Tara Knot got in touch about this styled shoot last October and said she was looking to create a Barbie Inspired vibe. I didn’t need to ask what the colour palette would be.
PINK PINK & MORE PINK!!!

It’s not often I get to work with a monochromatic colour palette as most couples want a mix of colours but I loved working with a range of pink flowers. All the flowers are British and locally grown and usually available in August, September and into October depending on the weather. I chose different hues from deep burgundy through to pale pink and then also added in some Honesty seed pods to catch the light, the disco ball in flower form. The style of my bridal bouquet is wild garden gathered style perfect for a relaxed wedding. Using flowers grown outside in the elements always gives the flowers more character and movement creating a more wildflower style. Also adding in lots of textured elements like the grasses and seed pods gives more interest and natural look.

For the dining tables we filled mini meadow boxes with fresh flowers and on the sweet heart tables bottles of fresh flowers. I also wanted to showcase the option of having dried flowers, so a selection were popped into bud vases on the other tables.

Tara created this area which is perfect as a posing station and we decorated with some floor standing meadow style arrangements.
I created the look with a gathering of the following seasonal flowers.
Dahlias are in season in the Midlands UK from late July through to the first frosts, which is usually mid to end of October. They come in a wide range of strong colours including pinks and will really pack a punch in your bouquet.
Cosmos are another gorgeous late summer/autumn flower. The daisy shape is so pretty and they are tall and wiry to give a floaty look. A really happy flower, they also come in white and they all have a yellow centre.
Amaranthus the deep red burgundy has an almost velvet texture, you can also get a cascading/trailing variety.
Straw Flowers and Statice these come in bright and pastel colours and are perfect for drying.
Honesty seed pods the shiny discs really catch the light, I love using these at any time of year to give a touch of sparkle.
I also added some Panicum grasses and Limonium for extra texture. I wanted to keep everything looking very pink so used a minimal amount of greenery in the designs.
All designs were made as sustainably as possible by using locally grown flowers and not imported blooms with a high carbon footprint. Also all arrangements were used without the use of floral foam as this is a single use plastic and does not biodegrade and plastic particles contaminate the water course and end up in the sea. All of which is disastrous for the environment and wildlife. So I hope you will consider this when choosing your wedding florist.
Maybe you don’t want pink flowers for your wedding or have no idea what colours would work for your style and venue, no need to panic, that’s what your florist is there for. So get in touch with us to see how we can help you find the perfect colour scheme for your wedding.
