Your wedding flowers are more than just decorations – they bring colour, fragrance, and life to your day.
They set the tone, complement your style, and reflect the season of your celebration. But planning wedding flowers can feel overwhelming if you’re not sure what to ask. To help, here’s a guide to the top questions couples often ask their florist, along with answers to make planning simple, enjoyable, and stress-free.
At The Flower Patch, I specialise in eco-friendly wedding flowers made from locally grown British blooms where ever possible, helping couples create beautiful, seasonal wedding bouquets and arrangements that are sustainable, timeless and uniquely theirs.
When should we book our wedding florist?
It’s best to start looking for your suppliers as soon as you have your date and venue confirmed. Ideally look to book 9-12 months ahead, this ensures I can reserve your date and plan the flowers that will be in season for your celebration. As I work with my local flower farmers the more notice I can give them on what colour flowers my couples want the more time they have to plan and grow them.

What Flowers are in season for our wedding?
Seasonal flowers look their best, last longer, and are more sustainable. Using locally grown British flowers ensures your bouquets and arrangements are fresh, fragrant, and eco-friendly. From spring tulips and blossom to summer roses and autumn dahlias, l’ll guide you through the best flowers for your wedding date, so your arrangements feel natural, elegant, and perfectly suited to the season. Take a look at our Seasonal Flowers page to see what flowers are blooming throughout the year.

Can you work with our colour scheme and theme?
Your flowers should complement your wedding style and palette. Whether your vision is soft pastels, bold summer tones, rustic meadow-inspired designs, or classic elegance, I create seasonal wedding bouquets and floral arrangements tailored to your theme. Every bouquet, buttonhole, and centrepiece is designed to feel cohesive, natural, and personal to your celebration.

How much will our wedding flowers cost?
Every wedding is unique and costs will vary slightly depending on the size of arrangements and how long it will take to make up and install larger feature florals like arches, frames etc. The labour charges for these arrangements is often high due to the limited time we have to set up. So we often need to factor in the cost to hire extra florists. I offer bespoke wedding flowers as well as carefully curated wedding flower packages, using the best seasonal blooms to give you a beautiful, eco-friendly result while keeping costs manageable. For my ‘Bespoke Wedding Flowers’ service I have a price guide on my website to give you some idea of costs and what budget you’ll need to consider. My ‘Curated Wedding Packages’ provide a structured starting point, but each arrangement is still unique to your wedding, combining style, sustainability and value.

Can we repurpose our flowers throughout the day?
Many ceremony arrangements can be moved to the reception or repurposed as table décor. This not only stretches your budget but also reduces waste — a win for sustainability and style. I love helping couples make the most of every bloom, ensuring your eco-friendly wedding flowers shine throughout your day. Our Bespoke Wedding Flowers service gives you the option of hiring us to stay until after your ceremony to move larger installation arrangements. The cost for this can vary depending on how many staff will be needed and the complexity of the designs. This can be itemised on your personal wedding flowers proposal.

How does delivery and setup for our wedding flowers work?
With our ‘Bespoke Wedding Flowers’ service I take care of delivery, setup, and styling at your venue, so you can relax on your wedding day. Bouquets and buttonholes are delivered to where you’re getting ready, and all wedding floral arrangements are placed at the venue in plenty of time. Every detail is handled so your flowers look perfect from start to finish. Our ‘Curated Wedding Flower Packages’ are costed for you to pick up the day before your wedding however we can give you a cost for us to deliver to you on the day.

What happens to your flowers after the wedding?
If you choose to hire our containers for your arrangements then we will return to collect the following day and bunch up the flowers for you to keep or share with your guests. Many couples love knowing their sustainable, locally grown wedding flowers continue to bring joy beyond their celebration. For our ‘Curated Wedding Flowers Packages’ all containers are yours to keep. This is usually bud vases and containers for any table meadow arrangements.

How do we know if our wedding florist is Eco-Friendly?
Look for a florist who doesn’t work with green floral foam as this is a single use plastic that doesn’t biodegrade. There are other much more eco friendly options to design flowers into and we are continually investing in our education to learn and improve, so we can be as sustainable as possible. Also ask your florist if they work with locally grown seasonal flowers, we love to follow the true British seasons and buy our flowers in from our local flower farmers. You can see examples of our designs on our seasonal flowers page, where I share what is likely to be available in the month of your wedding.
